Editorial Policy
The Indian Journal of Spatial Science adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines) for appeals to journal editor decisions and complaints about a journal's editorial management of the peer-review process.
We welcome genuine appeals against the editor’s decision and in response to the editor's and reviewers' comments, the author must provide strong evidence or new data/information. For further information, please ‘Contact Us’. The editorial policy is in no way influenced by the views of the sponsors.
Articles submitted to the IJSS are subjected to the following review procedure:
- First, primary screening is done to find its ‘suitability’ for the IJSS, and also to find ‘plagiarised content’ if any.
- The primary screening report (PSR) is then communicated sent to the author for revision/modification, if necessary.
- The revised article is is then sent to a ‘Peer Reviewer’, usually an expert in that field of Professor or Associate Professor rank, selected from a long list of ‘Board of Reviewers’.
- The Hon’ble Reviewer submits a report in prescribed format with detailed comments and ‘marks’ in the manuscript (double blinded) usually within 4 - 6 weeks.
- It is then sent to the author for ‘minor’ or ‘major’ revisions (as commented by the Hon’ble Reviewer). An article is rejected if the comments deserve so.
- The author accordingly modifies the manuscript and resubmit it. The members of the ‘Editorial Board’ carefully scrutinizes whether everything is suitably addressed and then a communication is made to the author about the acceptance of the article in a certain issue of a particular volume.
According to the current statistics of our records, it takes about of four to six weeks for the reviewers and editors to submit their comments with respect to the acceptance of papers. We consider this period quite normal for scientific journals of our impact and in our scientific field. Author(s) can always check the status of the ‘Article’ with the Editor-in-Chief.
